Among the various arts and crafts activities that kids can be made to participate, the following are related to language and word games and such. Christmas art activity that makes use of language skills of children can be both fun as well as educative.

Writing Christmas Acrostics

An acrostic is a kind of poem where you choose a particular word, write it down vertically on the page and then, use each letter to start a new line in the poem. And, the poem thus written should give an apt description of the original word that was chosen.

Ask the kids to make acrostics using familiar Christmas terms such as star, bells, angel, Santa Claus, Christmas tree, gifts, snowman.

Gift Certificates

As part of the Christmas art activity, Children can create their own Christmas gift certificates in the form of certain things you can do around the house in order to help your parents and siblings that they will appreciate. Other types of gift certificates can be those which can be traded in for a certain amount of money’s worth of gifts at a store, or a service like dinner or lunch at a restaurant or that which can be redeemed for a particular object at a store.

Christmas Memories

You can create your own Christmas memories and describe them in evocative language and it can turn into a unique Christmas art activity that the whole family can take part in. Recollect one of your favorite Christmas memories and then describe it in a paragraph. Add as much details as you can think of, include action verbs that evoke the sights and smells and feel of the memory you are trying to describe. Copy the finished piece neatly and file it in a special folder or notebook dedicated to Christmas memories.

Letters to Santa

Give a twist to the usual “letters to Santa” by making the children forgo the selfish act of listing out only the gifts they want to have this Christmas. Instead, encourage them to give some thought to what someone else might be in need of or wishing for. Asking them to write letters to Santa with requests for their friends or even the less-fortunate strangers is a good way to induce the true spirit of Christmas in children.

Thank-you Letters

Holiday season is the time when children are showered with numerous gifts. Encourage the kids to write a personal note of thanks to the people in their family as well as the community for the things they do. A thank-you letter is a precious gift that you can give to someone who has served you and helped you in some capacity and showed kindness to you.

Christmas Charades

Another Christmas art activity that is fun is playing charades. Divide the whole group of people into two teams and ask them to write down words related to Christmas in small slips of paper. After folding the slips into two, place each teams’ lists into separate hats. Let members from one team draw a slip of paper from the rival team’s hat and make them act out the word they got. If the player’s team manages to guess the word from the charade, they get a point. Tally the points at the end of the game and the team with the maximum points wins.

Christmas art activity helps children as well as adults enjoy themselves and is a wonderful way to foster the spirit of giving and sharing and merrymaking that symbolizes Christmas.
