Art Projects During Christmas Time

Christmas and the holiday season is that time of the year when people get all gung-ho about creating their own arts and crafts items. There are plenty of Christmas art projects that are easy to implement and also result in beautiful Christmas decorations. Most of these Christmas art projects need as little as some glue, a paint brush, a pair of scissors and glitter and the end result will be plenty of decorations and ornaments that you can cherish over the years.

Making ornaments and decorations that can be put up on the Christmas tree as well as all over the house is one such activity that even preschoolers can indulge in. Making cut-outs of various stenciled shapes like angels, Christmas stars & Christmas trees out of paper and then embellishing them with glitter and gluing colored paper to make them festive, can be done by preschoolers.

Take a large piece of poster board or display paper. Let the children dip their palms in green, red or multi-colored finger paint and make them press their palms onto the paper in the shape of a Christmas tree. This is one of the easiest things that can be made by small kids.

Preschoolers can also make Christmas trees out of pinecones. After rolling the pine cones in glue, they can be sprinkled with colorful glitter and affix the pine cone trees to suitable bases using glue. They can also glue colorful beads and ribbons onto the pinecones to make them look like miniature decorated Christmas trees.

There are several Christmas art projects that will interest the toddlers. Children of this age group generally enjoy gluing together things. You can engage your toddler in the process of making Santa Claus. First, cut out the face, hat and beard of the Santa from construction paper. Glue the hat on top of the face and the beard to the bottom part of the face. Help your toddler glue the nose, mouth and eyes of Santa that you had made by cutting the shapes out of construction paper. Use cotton balls and glue them to the beard of the Santa and finish off by sprinkling glitter over the Santa’s face.

Making Snowman out of card stock is another project that can be attempted by toddlers. Cut out circles of varying sizes out of card stock, stack them one over the other, with the smallest to the largest, and glue them together. The snowman is ready to be decorated by the children. Mix glitter into white paint and allow your toddler to paint the snowman. Once the paint dries, let your child glue on the hat, the scarf, the nose, the eyes and the mouth to the snowman.

Making a skirt that can be placed around the base of the Christmas tree is another easy to make Christmas art projects that you can try. Buy a circular cloth piece and cut out a hole in the middle of it. Cut out various-shaped decorations from multi-hued fabric and attach them to the skirt using fabric glue. Add glitter to make a cheerful tree skirt.
