Celebrate Easter in Schools with a Play

Easter is an occasion to be celebrated with friends and family. For the elders, it is an occasion to be enjoyed with friends and family with all the traditions that are integral to the Christians. For the kids, it is all about Easter bunnies, Easter egg hunt, chocolate cakes and cookies. But it is also a wonderful time to stage dramas and plays associated with Christ. Sadly enough, today’s children are not much concerned about the religious aspects of Christianity and they are not much interested in knowing their own traditions either. However, it is the responsibility of the elders and the teachers to see that they know something about the life and works of Christ and staging a play is just appropriate for the kids will be educated and they will enjoy the experience at the same time.

Although all the elders more or less know the facts associated with Christ, while staging a play some other things should also be kept in mind. A drama or a play is not just a way of merely stating the facts. But, a way of stating those facts in a way which will intrigue the audiences. In case of a play, associated with Christ, this is all the more important. Although no one will expect professional accuracy or extreme perfectness from teenage children and the effort and the endeavor will be all that would matter, it would be nice to put a certain degree of credibility into the performance, and it is up to the elders to see that it is achieved.

Moreover, the children should themselves enjoy what they are doing. The entire process of rehearsals should not be made cumbersome for the kids, and although the play would be religious in nature, it should be monotonous for the kids participating, since for most children, religion is something somber and the do not associate themselves with it. The play should be made enjoyable with the use of props and not too difficult dialogues. On the other hand, it should also be something which the children would take seriously. For teenage children, responsibility would really mean something and they would love treated like adults, with an important part to play in the school performance.

Lastly, you should see the entire drama is bound by a proper script. A script is the most important part in a play and all the actions and character should go according to it. For a school function, a professional can be hired to write the script or one can be easily availed from the Easter plays that have been performed for ages.
