Christmas cake decoration- An icing on cake

From writing cards, shopping to cooking and wrapping presents, people have a plenty of tasks to accomplish during Christmas. Out of all these important aspects, decorating the Christmas cake also forms a significant part of the entire celebration.

One of the quickest patterns to decorate Christmas cake is by using ingredients such as glace fruits, semi-dried fruits, cherries, angelica and different types of nuts. But stick to 3-4 varieties, otherwise the design would appear too cluttered. If the top is rounded, then cut it off and reverse the side such that the base turns into the top. Take half a jar of jam and press through a sifter. Brush the top portion with the jam and grace it with fruit and nuts. A circular design is appropriate for a round cake, whereas straight lines seem ideal for a square cake. To add an attractive shine, brush it up with jam and lastly tie a wide ribbon around the cake.

If you wish to expend some more time on the cake decoration, then you may consider decorating the top with soft icing, and then use a ribbon or a frill to place around the sides. Roll out the sugar paste or marzipan until it is a little larger than the top surface of the cake. Brush the top with apricot jam and then reverse the cake on the sugar paste, and slice away the extra paste. Place the cake on a board and carefully moisten the paste around the edges. You can make a design on edges with the help of cake crimpers. If you do not have crimpers, then you may simply press the spoon handle into the paste. Make a distinct decoration by coloring some marzipan red and then molding it into the shape of a candle.

Those who wish to take the field of royal icing can do it by making a ’snow scene’. Firstly, apply a layer of marzipan and leave it for drying for about 2 days. The conventional way of making splendid icing is with the icing sugar and egg white, but today icing sugar already contains the accurate quantity of dried egg white. However, the icing still requires good beating.

You must always test the icing before actually applying it to the cake. The icing would stand in peaks if it is done in the correct constancy. One can add different flavors to the cake such as apple, banana, lemon, orange, strawberry, pumpkin, carrot, cheese, seashell and many more. Some exciting decoration ideas may include Santa’s, reindeer, snowmen, Christmas trees, puddings, blue angels, marzipan penguins, pink angels, white chocolate, holly leaves burgundy, flowers etc.

Preparing a yummy and delicious cake tops the list of every Christmas celebration. Besides making a scrumptious cake, impressive Christmas cake decoration forms a significant part of the entire course
