But what matters most is that this messenger of god was born and opened the door to the kingdom of god for all of us, no matter we choose to enter in it or not.

Christmas Carols

Christmas Carols are normally heard around Christmas time. Where did they originate? Every Christmas carol carries with it, a message and a story about the era in which it originated. The best way to know the origin of Christmas carols is to learn them, read them and sing them along with your relatives and friends.

Let’s take a few examples. The carol “Silent Night” tells us about the time just after Jesus was born, the time when Mother Mary is trying to put the little baby Jesus to sleep. “Santa Clause is coming to town” talks about the mythical figure of Santa and children all around the world waiting for him to give them, just the gifts they’ve asked for, for Christmas.

The 12 Days of Christmas

The day of Christmas marks the start of the 12-days-of-Christmas. You must have heard the popular Christmas song “The 12 days of Christmas”. Most Christians around the world know the popular song but do not understand its underlying meaning. Its hidden definition, if followed and applied in our daily lives can truly lead us to self realisation, or what Jesus called, The Kingdom of God.

The Old Christmas Day

Only a few people know about it but the world after Jesus’ death wasn’t only divided on the basis of land, casts and races but was also divided on the basis of time. The Christian World was divided among two sects, namely the Catholics and Protestants. The Protestants didn’t want pope to dictate them anything and thus refused to follow the modern Gregorian calendar. As a result, London was almost 10 days ahead of Paris.

Before things got normal and the calendar was reformed, Christmas was celebrated on the 6th of January according to modern Gregorian calendar

Herod the King

It’s time to retell the old story of this evil King. Herod, the King of Bethlehem was troubled by the news that a messiah of god is soon going to walk the land of Jerusalem. He tricked the wise men to follow the eastward star and tell him the whereabouts of the baby when he’s born. But the lord had other things in mind. In their dreams they were warned not to return to Herod and they departed into their respective countries through another way.
