Enjoy the Christmas Grandeur on a Lighter Palette
Low fat recipes are generally recommended for maintaining a healthy diet and eventually a healthy lifestyle. Now before you tend to have any negative thoughts let me make it clear that this in no way means stopping yourself from all those goodies on earth. It’s just a matter of conscious eating. In other words, it’s an effort to know and choose what you are eating before blindly swallowing a mouthful.
A daily routine is not difficult to manage. Somehow with time we do happen to adjust. What is difficult is to make through the festivities. As it is they come once in a year; and giving up anything at these times…is miserable!!
A smart trick is to time out the heavier and spicy dishes. If you decide to treat yourself with one such platter on the weekend; make sure the rest of the week goes the other way. While going through the grocery or departmental stores make sure you take your time to read through the labels.
But hang on, low fat Christmas recipes are not that difficult either. Check with the following list of chef’s special pocket tricks:
- With eggs work mostly on egg whites
- Use fat free or skimmed or toned milk
- Use olive or canola oil in place of cooking oil
- Use cocoa powder instead of chocolate
- Use selective nuts and in a less portion
- Look for fat free mayonnaise and yoghurt
For low fat cheesecake you could use light cream cheese or nonfat cream cheese. It may sound uncanny but keeping an approximate count of the calorie intake could take you a long way. It helps you munch on things while mentally you keep checking whether you need to balance the stuff.
When it comes to low fat soup recipe avoid cream based soup. Instead try broth or tomato based soup. Avoid boiling fat free or low fat milk.
Health & low fat recipe
Well yes, you could always argue whether health depends only on low fat recipes. That I guess is going to take some time before we can finally come to an established conclusion. But few things do seem to be in place. Most importantly one needs to understand that good food tastes good only if it does not lead to any consequences later on. As such low fat recipes are just one of the bullet points that one could begin with in that endeavour.
