For the Cake Makers

Cake makers

We all choose our careers based either on our academic strength or on our interests and passions. I wonder what exactly it is for bakers! Well whatever it may be, it is undoubtedly one of the most lucrative, creative, everyday-something-new and competitive forms of career. Most interestingly, success knows no bound if you know your ingredients well!

For cake makers all over the world it is rather more important to have a sound knowledge of the basics rather than being very good in creative designs. If one has a creative intent he is simply on the edge. But for beginners or amateurs an interest or desire to learn is all that it takes to make the most amazing, stunning, delicate and delicious pieces.

An interesting chat with one of the bakers at a popular cake shop nearby led to few exciting revelations:

  • Bakers don’t always work as per the typical 9a.m-5p.m. schedule
  • The same ingredients could be used to make a wide variety of cakes
  • With the help of icing you could decorate the cake according to any possible design
  • Professional bakers have an equipment for each of the steps involved in making cake
  • Cake making today has a number of avenues attached to it. There are live kitchen and counters wherein they do all the decoration in front of the customer as per their ideas.
  • There are at least a hundred different varieties of chocolate cake alone!
  • Sifting the flour, creaming the butte and the royal icing are three initial steps to begin with; that every baker should be able to just make it right…even while asleep!
  • Cake tins, pans, stands help you chalk the final design rather smoothly; so cake makers need to master this directory equally
  • Ingredients, time, temperature control, mixture, measurement, machines and equipments are the main blocks in the index of a baker’s Bible

Best cake makers

It is always nice to earn the tag of being ‘best’ in the department for the work that we are hired for. It is indeed a driving force and does help our mental plot to do better ahead. Wondering what does it take for a baker to be the ‘best’? Let’s try working this out:

  • Most importantly; you have to love and like your work. Any activity or task can’t just have a list of goodies. There is always a flipside and you should be prepared for all that comes along
  • Next; learning and development is part of the process and so the two factors can never be put aside. They stand irrespective of the level of your career
  • Always speak to clients to figure out the craziest of designs that one can think of…that’s a clue!

The best cake makers are thus common men growing up the normal way like all of us. It’s just perhaps the fact that they don’t do different things; they do things differently!
