Sweet items for Christmas party includes cake, cookies and candies. Cookies are the favorite sweet among the guests and making them can be fun too. Cut-out cookies, pressed cookies, bars and squares cookies, these are some of the favorite with people. Christmas cookie decorations are the most amazing part of baking the cookie.
Cut-out cookies are favorite with children. Decorating these creations is the best part of making them. And if you have children you can let them in on the act. What is Christmas without tins full of lovingly-decorated cookies.
There are many ways to decorate cookies. Here are some of the guidelines to decorate the cookies:
- Cookies can be decorated before baking with some items which can withstand heat. Some of the things which you can place on your cookies before baking are pearl sugar, sprinkles, raisins and other dry fruits.
- Make an edible paint with egg yolk mixed with a few drops of food coloring and paint the cookies before baking. This will give the cookies a colorful glazed appearance.
- Drizzle of white or dark chocolate or even caramel would liven your cookie.
- Decorating cookies after baking them requires that you apply some liquid substance so that it acts as a glue to attach other items. Usually, they are in the form of icing, frosting or melted chocolate.
- Frosting is thick and those you see piped around the edges of a birthday cake. It remains soft to the touch and has a creamy texture, and it tastes good because of its creamy buttery flavor.
- Icing is a thinner, more liquid substance, and as it dries it thins out, becomes very smooth across the surface of your cookie, and hardens. Use this icing for more beautiful results.
- You can use a knife or rubber spatula to spread the frosting across the whole surface of your cookie. And the other way is to place the frosting in a decorating bag fitted with a small tip and piping out thin lines or rosettes of icing onto the cookie.
- Icing should be piped onto a cookie because it will run off the edges if spread with a knife. Once the icing is done you can spread sprinkles before it hardens.
- You can also decorate your cookie with food color. Make designs on it with a clean paint brush. And after you can sprinkle some powdered sugar on it.
All these easy tips will make your party enliven with beautiful Christmas cookie decorations.
