Halloween Truffles – Sweets for a Spooky Night!

It’s Halloween and it can be a little less spooky with some mouthwatering Halloween Truffles. To Make Wonderful Halloween Truffles, you will need:

  • 6 squares bittersweet chocolate
  • 6 squares white chocolate
  • ¼ cup  cream
  • 1tbsp butter at room temperature
  • 2 drops of red and 3 drops of yellow food colorings
  • 3tbsps of orange-tinted coconut flakes
  • Black decorating gel

Halloween Truffles are very easy to make and your children will love them! To prepare Halloween Truffles:

  • Combine butter, cream and bittersweet chocolate squares in a microwaveable bowl. Set the temperature to high and microwave for 1½-2 minutes. The chocolate should be completely melted. Stir to mix well. Cover and let cool.
  • Keep in the freezer for about 1 hour. Take out; it should be firm but not too hard.
  • Use a teaspoon to scoop the chocolate. Use your hands to roll and make into balls 1 inch diameter each. You should be able to make 20 balls.
  • Take a baking sheet and place a waxed paper over it. Place the balls. Cover and freeze for 20 minutes.  Place 3 white chocolate squares in a small microwaveable bowl. Set the temperature to high and microwave for 1½-2 minutes to melt chocolate. Set aside.
  • Take the remaining white chocolate squares; melt in microwaveable and stir in food colorings. The color will come out as orange. Set aside and let cool.
  • Take 10 chocolate balls and dip in the bowl of white chocolate and coloring mix. Coat each ball evenly.
  • Take the other 10 balls and dip in the bowl of white chocolate and coat evenly.
  • Use orange-tinted coconut flakes to decorate the orange truffles. This makes it look like small pumpkins. Use the black decorating gel on the white truffles to draw eyes and mouths.
  • Refrigerate until ready to eat.

Another tasty Halloween delight is the Pumpkin Truffles. To make these, you will need:

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1oz butter
  • 1 cup cream
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼tsp ground cloves
  • 1tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1tsp ground ginger
  • 24oz white chocolate morsels

To make Pumpkin Truffles:

  • Combine pumpkin, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and brown sugar. Cook in a saucepan over low heat for about 5/6 minutes. The pumpkin will reduce to half and will be dry. Set aside.
  • In a medium-sized saucepan heat cream. Take down.
  • Add hot cream to chocolate in a separate bowl and stir slowly. Mix well.
  • Add the pumpkin mixture and butter and whisk. Cover and refrigerate for few minutes.
  • Take candy making moulds of your choice; melt chocolate and fill in piping bag so you can easily squeeze into the moulds. Chill for a couple of minutes.
  • Tap the mold so chocolate settles in. Squeeze more chocolate on the top. Allow chilling for 20 minutes before taking out.
  • Roll candies in the pumpkin mix. Place on a baking sheet and chill until ready to serve.
