How to Plan an Easter egg Hunt for Kids

For the children, Easter is all about cakes, chocolates, Easter bunnies and Egg hunts. Although the older are concerned with the traditional aspects of Easter, for the children, Easter is celebrated with friends who like them are all eager to participate in the egg hunt. So if you have a young one in your family and are planning to host an egg hunt with your kid’s friends, then just taking care of certain things will bring the smile on the face of the young ones. Sometimes, egg hunts are also hosted in a larger way, with the hunt taking place in the local playhouse or the school and as the grounds are larger and there are more kids, the hunt too becomes more exciting.

Here is how you can plan an Easter egg hunt.

  • Send out invitations to your children’s friends and to other children in the neighborhood. They can be sent out in cute bunny shaped cards a few days before Easter, also mentioning the time and place.
  • On the morning of Easter, keep sufficient supplies of tit bits like juices, sandwiches and cookies as the children are sure to be hungry after the hunt.
  • Keep extra baskets for those children who forget to bring their own baskets.
  • Estimate around ten to twelve eggs per child and hide them in appropriate places.
  • Fill the Easter egg with candies, cookies, beaded bracelets, and small toys.
  • Carefully mark the boundary within which the hunt is to take place. This is especially necessary if the hunt is organized in larger places like the school compound.
  • If very small children are participating, then leave some eggs in very easy to find places.
  • Take the help of other adults to look after the kids while they roam around the grounds.
  • If children of all ages are participating then color code the eggs like children between 5 to 8 will collect blue eggs, between 9 to 12 pink eggs and teenagers will collect yellow eggs etc. Or you can also divide the hunt according to different age groups with separate timings.
  • Keep a first aid- box handy because with so many kids, there can easily be minor cuts and bruises around.
  • If you are planning some prize for the kid with the highest number of eggs like a bag of goodies, then distribute some of the same articles among the other children as well. In this way, no child will feel bad even if he or she loses and after all,  Easter is all about spreading happiness.
