Halloween Night is celebrated all over the world. Many countries have different cultures and celebrate Halloween Night in their own unique way. One of the most popular festivals in America, Halloween Night is celebrated as a joyous festival there and involves lots of parties and fun filled get together. Though Halloween Night is celebrated with equal zeal in Ireland (the place where Halloween Night is believed to be originated), Irish People are equally enthusiastic about following the traditions connected to Halloween Night. Halloween Tradition can be a lot of fun and it is interesting to study how different countries and different cultures have a variety of traditions attached with Halloween Night.

In Japan, Halloween Night is one of the popular festivals. Japan is greatly influenced by some of the American Ways .After the World War 2, Japan hasa lot of Americans residing. Their lifestyle and culture was picked by Japanese. Halloween is not celebrated in Japan like it is in America. However, the influence is strong and the cities are filled with Halloween theme parties and events. In Japan,people do not decorate their homes or kids do not flock together to collect treats, however, Japan does have costume parites where people dress up as ghosts and witches in parties.  It is amazing to know that though Japan does not really celebrate Halloween Night, they do have a national holiday for Halloween. Halloween Night in Japan is not that vibrant, however there are few Halloween Activities that you will notice:-

  • Halloween in Schools: Most schools in Japan celebrate Halloween Day. Kids come dressed up in costume and play trick or treat. It is not celebrated like an important religious festival however, you will see most school kids dressing up as ghosts, vampires and witches and eating candies.
  • Pastry Shops : Though not as popular in all stores, you will see the influence of Halloween in small pastry shops which make special Halloween treats and sweets. Most of them are French Pastry Shops ,hence, they know the traditional sweets and how to make it etc. They prepare lovely cupcakes, special cookies .

Japan is still opening to the idea of Halloween and the idea is already developing since it has declared Halloween Day as a Holiday. There are some stores and streets which organize Halloween Fests. Though people in Japan are very superstitious about evil spirits and most of Japan believes in Ghosts, it is surprising how they do not view Halloween in Japan as an inauspicious day when ghosts and evil spirits roam around freely. They View it as a “Fest of the Dead” which is a brilliant start.
