Look, Santa is Visiting You This Christmas!

The legendary, partly fictitious Christmas Character is said to be inspired from the real life activities of Christian saint Saint Nicholas. The Saint had a habit of giving away prizes to poor children anonymously during the Christmas season, so that none of them would look sad out of impoverishment. Later, as per the chronicles, the character of St Nicholas had been appended to a then existed Christmas character and today’s Santa Claus had been formed with present day charisma and charm.

According to Western Culture, which later absorbed by other countries as well, Santa is a figure who brings gifts to the houses of good children during the late evening and overnight hours of the Christmas Eve. The visit of Santa Claus during Christmas time is a much common belief in every country where Christianity exists. According to the traditions, Santa visits everywhere despite of any country wise, culture wise or religion wise distinctions.

Every year on Christmas time, Santa makes his all round the world visit on his legendary sleigh drawn by eight reindeers. Traditionally, Santa is believed to be living in Lapland in Finland, a country located on the North Pole. Since it is a country, noted with heavy snowfall, only a transportation mode like sleigh can take Santa to places.

The visit of Santa Claus is a time for the children to rejoice in jollity and joviality. According to the traditions, the children either keep their socks below their bed during the Christmas Eve or put their shoes on the window sill to find them filled with gifts from the Christmas father the next day morning. To keep the children’s jovial mood, the parents would fill their socks and shoes with gifts in the night while the children are sleeping.

Nowadays, Lapland is fast emerging as a Christmas tourism destination and the place Rovaniemi has gained the status as the hometown of Santa Claus. The tourists there can visit Santa Claus at Rovaniemi and meet him with Mrs. Claus, where Santa has an office and work shop. Besides, there is a post office from where the visitors can purchase Christmas greeting cards and send them to their home.

The annual visit, Santa Claus makes to the homes of good children is a great and nostalgic concept. Every child will be prepared for his visit and they will behave good as Santa gives gifts to only good children. So the children will do virtuous things and behave nicely to elders and others in an attempt to please the Christmas father.
