Muppet Christmas Carol:A Classic Movie

Muppet Christmas Carol is a fourth film which is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’s, A Christmas Carol. The protagonist of the movie, Ebezener Scrooge is a cruel money lender. His depraved business practices create a lot of problems for Camden town in London.

He is visited by three ghosts of past, present and future during the night of Christmas eve. He then discovers his ill-practices and flaws which led him to become an honest and charitable person. This is a musical film which includes seven songs.

Brian Henson, the director of the movie was able to leave a mark with his directorial debut. Unlike other movies of the Muppet banner, this one is concerned with human characters. Muppet Christmas Carol is also the first movie produced by The Walt Disney company.

This musical adaptation includes famous soundtracks like, One More Sleep ‘Til Christmas by Kermit, When Love is Gone by Meredith Braun which was incidentally not shown when the movie released because the director was under impression that it will cut the pace of the movie.

In this movie, the central character is portrayed as a cruel and surly money lender who one day refuses to lend money to one of his staff. Later in that evening he is finds himself face to face with the spirit of his earlier business partners. They warn him of the payment that one has to pay in the afterlife of their deeds.

During night he encounters with three ghosts of past, present and future. The Ghost from the past takes Scrooge on the journey back when he was a youth. He recalls his early days when he studied and met a girl whom he loved. When he was parting he also promised to marry her as soon as he has enough money.

The Ghost from the present, gives him the glimpse of the holidays and celebrations of others. Scrooge see how others are enjoying the Christmas together and how his own family are not even talking with him around.

The Ghost of future reveals that when his own time will be passed, people will feel delighted and people attending his funeral only for free food.
