Planning for Christmas Dance Show??

Are you looking forward to a year end that would serve you a real treat and actually have a blast? Then my friend it’s your turn to either be a part of or arrange to watch any Christmas dance shows. You thought I was joking? Well I too thought so when my three year old nephew suggested that I should take part in their day care dance show last Christmas.

We all happen to plan for Christmas and wish to celebrate like never before. At times we happen to plan so many things that it seems difficult to have a peaceful year end. But let me tell you, Christmas dance shows are like Cadbury bites; they are too good and a welcome note at any age.

On being suggested by my nephew, somehow the proverb ‘child is the father of man’, suddenly made a lot of sense. I thought over for a while and finally decided to give it a try. It was though difficult to imagine myself doing something like that it eventually led to one of the fondest Christmas celebrations that I’ve ever had.

I began with a visit to the internet looking for a dance critic’s guide. There were many and a sneak peek into few of them helped my confidence.
Then I had a meeting with the lady in charge at day care to have my own story of the show.

A talk with her helped me realize that the entire idea is to enable a person to express himself through his or her favourite cartoon character. In other words it helped kids and to a huge extent adults as well to portray their feelings mimicking their favourite characters. The idea behind cartoons was to open up or encourage or light up ones creative vent of mind.

Cartoon dance for Christmas was thus the flavour of the season. Each parent or guardian accompanying a kid would be dressed in the likes of their favourite cartoon characters. They would then be choosing a Christmas number to dance on. Their steps had to match the character and a skit or gig or act could be performed on the song.

I would visit the day care thrice a week for about a month and by Thanksgiving we were all set.

My nephew was dressed as Jerry and I looked quite familiar to Tom…as the kids said! We chose to dance on a Christmas carol composed by the BoneyM. Finally we were on stage doing the age old cat-chasing-mouse show; and I swear I don’t remember the last time when I had so much fun.

To end up Christmas dance shows do have the potential to make one feel ‘too good’ and have a ‘real blast’ by the end of year. It is indeed one of the best ways to step into a new year…try it!
