Rules to Follow When Attending an Office Christmas Party

The light snow, jingling of bells, festive spirits, all indicate that- Christmas is here!!! This is the perfect time of the year for people to get together and enjoy. And what will be more better way to celebrate than to party and meet people. Christmas parties are organised in homes involving friends and families and in office involving colleagues. While attending office Christmas party we should keep in mind some rules to avoid becoming a subject to laugh over at.

Below are some Do’s and Don’ts to be followed when attending an office Christmas party:

STEP 1: DO’S

Do Attend: If you pass on the invitation it may look ungrateful and shows you are not much of a team

player.

Do conduct yourself professionally at all times. Its a company function so proper etiquette and manner matters.

Do enjoy yourself at the party. This is the christmas gift from your company. They spend lots of money to reward the employees. So be sure to enjoy the gift from your company

Do keep all the conversations positive and upbeat. Avoid controversial subjects and sad jokes.

Do take time to network with people, who can influence your career. Top managements and people from other departments whom you may not see regularly.

STEP 2: DON’TS

Don’t bring any gag gift items for the boss, or any other crazy items which you do at other holidays parties.

Don’t dress-up in a club attire at the party. Remember to ask whether the dress is formal or casual.

Don’t be a bore and talk business all time. Do show interest in others and what they have been working.

Don’t drink excessively and also don’t pig out at the food buffet. You can always do that after the party.

Don’t flirt and behave appropriately in the party. Don’t make it a reason to end your career.
