Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Santa Claus; who is also known by many other names; is one person whose arrival is much looked for in anticipation by all the children on Christmas day. He is the one who brings in the joy to the kids in form of the ‘much awaited gifts’ that children are looking for. That is the reason that children are always asking throughout the year ‘where is Santa Claus right now?’ from their parents. Originally speaking Santa is always depicted as wearing red coat which has white collars and his physique is that of a plump old man who is very jovial and affectionate with kids. This is the kind of image that is actually popularized in the industry, be it Television, songs, movies, etc. As a result of this children who are basically very gullible in natures are made to feel that Santa Claus is like a father figure that is there to take care of all the needs of the children. Most of the times when parents are trying to put their children to bed one question that usually pops up for them is ‘mom where is Santa Claus from?’ and another one being that ‘where is Santa Claus tonight?’ The reason for this general inquisitiveness is owing to the fact that Santa portrays such a friendly and affectionate figure; not only amongst the children but also amongst the elders too.

To further throw some light on the queries formulated by the children about the residence of Santa Claus, one can just say that Santa is supposed to be living in the cold freezing North Pole with his wife Mrs Claus. He lives in a place in Finland called Korvatunturi in Lapland Province. He is believed to have many magical elves at his disposal and there are around 8-9 reindeers that are always available for Santa. Another popular belief amongst the people is that Santa keeps an account of all the children and based on their behaviours; they are well categorized onto being obedient and naughty. He gives gifts to all the children that have behaved well and have listened to their parents and complied with their wishes, and the children who have misbehaved are gifted ‘coal’ by Santa. All this is done by Santa with the help of his magical elves; that is why the popular song goes like ‘Santa Claus is coming to town…You better watch out, you better not cry, You better not Pout I am telling you why…Santa Claus is coming to Town”…This song shows the anxiety of the children who are anticipating the visit of the ‘Father’ of Xmas to come and shower them with gifts!
