Some All Time Favourite Easy Kids Recipes

We are all aware that parenting is the act of raising and rearing a child with love, care and devotion. What follows then is to make special effort towards healthy eating as healthy kids make up a happy family.

Any guide on healthy eating habits for children would advise on eating fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals, lean meat and other sources of protein  and cutting back on sugar, fats and junk foods. Fruits and vegetables are packed with essential vitamins and minerals needed for healthy development and for avoiding nasty diseases like cancer and heart problems.

Kids need to be taught to eat healthy food and this can be encouraged by having regular family meals, serving them with a variety of healthy foods and snacks, imbibing good eating habits yourself and involving kids in the process of cooking.

The following are some easy healthy recipes for kids that you may try at home;

Crunchy Macaroni Salad

Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiled macaroni
  • 2 spring onions
  • 1 capsicum
  • 1 tomato
  • 1/2 cup cheese
  • 1/2 cup sweet corn kernels
  • 1/4 cup boiled peas
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Toss in the salad and vegetables and the macaroni and add lemon juice, sugar, cheese and salt and pepper. Mix well and your tasty macaroni salad is ready which your kid is sure to enjoy.

Healthy Fruit Salad

Just chop some fresh seasonal fruits in a bowl, add lemon juice and seasoning and you would get a bowl of fresh fruit salad which is healthy and satisfying. You may add a little cream to make it tastier.

Easy Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 1 teaspoons Margarine
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons Milk
  • 1 tablespoons Pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Shredded mozzarella cheese

Make dough from the flour, baking powder, margarine and milk. Roll it out and spread readymade pizza sauce. Sprinkle the cheese and place it in a pre-heated oven at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Your pizza is ready to eat!

A healthy homemade candy treat

Mix together 1 cup natural almond butter or peanut butter, 1/2 cup carob powder,1/2 cup mashed banana, 2 tsp. Vanilla.  The can be shaped into balls, and rolled in cinnamon or unsweetened coconut and stored in the refrigerator. This healthy candy is surely to attract young kids.
