The all time favorite White Cake
A cake that melts in the mouth is a treat. This is a dessert that can be made in so many varieties, shapes and flavors. One can also get innovative with the flavor as well as the decorations on it depending on the occasion it is being made for.
White cake, the most basic form of cake, is a favorite with many and it is the ideal recipe for beginners too. Let us take a look at the basic white cake recipe.
Basic White cake
Ingredients
Flour – 1 ½ cup
Milk – ½ cup
Butter – ½ cup
Baking Powder – 1 ¾ tsp
Sugar – 1 cup
Vanilla Essence – 2 tsp
Eggs – 2
Method
Let us first prepare for baking. Pre heat the oven at 350 degrees.
1. Take a 9 inch baking pan and grease it. Some flour can also be sprinkled.
2. Take the sugar and butter and beat it together in a bowl.
3. Separate the egg yolks. Add the whites to the sugar butter mixture.
4. Now add the flour and the baking powder.
5. Add the milk and continue whipping the batter.
6. Finally add the yolks and the vanilla essence.
7. Beat this mixture until you get a smooth consistency.
8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
9. Bake for approximately 30 – 40 minutes.
10. When ready, let the cake cool.
11. Invert it into a dish and invert it back into another dish.
12. The cake is now ready to be served.
This cake is as soft as sponge and is also referred to as the sponge cake or the white moist cake. The cake can be iced once it is ready to make is attractive and tempting. Let us take a look at the correct method to make it.
White Cake Icing – I
Ingredients
Vegetable Shortening – ½ cup
Milk – ½ cup
Sugar – ½ cup
Flour – 2 tbsp
Vanilla Essence – 2 tsp
Method
1. Take a heavy saucepan. Put in the flour and the milk.
2. Cook he mixture on low heat until it is thick. Keep aside to cool
3. Whip the shortening and sugar together in a bowl.
4. Add the cooled four and milk mixture.
5. Now add the vanilla essence.
6. Beat this well in a blender until it is fluffy.
White Cake Icing II
Ingredients
Powdered Sugar – 1 cup
Milk – 1-3 tbsp
Cream Cheese – 1 big spoon
Method
1. Take powdered sugar in a bowl and add the milk to it.
2. Now add the cream cheese and stir.
3. Make sure that the mixture is neither too thick nor too thin. If it is thick, some more milk can be added and if it is too thin then some more powdered sugar can be added.
4. Put the mixture in the fridge for 30-60 minutes for thickening
5. You can now add vanilla essence or lemon juice or some colors to the cake.
6. Now spread the icing on the cake or use it for decoration
