The Famous Celebration of Christmas in Nigeria

Christmas is a holiday for everyone when people want to celebrate with their near and dear ones and enjoy themselves to the full. They want to go around and meet people they have not met since long and share and enjoy the festival with them. This is a time when people from different places re-connect and have fun. Usually what we do is write letters and these letters are considered as gifts to the people for whom we care. But actually there are a lot of things in Christmas which are beyond the act of sending gifts. Celebration of Christmas in Nigeria is famous all over the world.

People want to make merry and enjoy this beautiful festival by having lots of fun with their family and friends. You can hear the sound of carols in almost every nook and corner of the city by small girls as well as old ladies.

All the Christians burn candles at least four weeks before Christmas every Sunday. All this is done as it symbolizes that after the winter solstice has gone there is re birth of light. Also there is another tradition among the Christians that they go on a mass on the night of 24th of December and this is done as all the Christians believe that they celebrate the birth of Jesus at that time.

The Christians definitely have a Christmas tree in their homes and it symbolizes life and celebration in its full. Be it any shopping place, a shop, at the road side or at homes, you can find some beautiful decorated Christmas trees all around the corner.

Christmas is incomplete without Santa Claus. From the children to the adults, everyone just waits for the Santa to come and get some lovely gifts for them. Children hang their socks outside their home and they expect Santa Claus to fill it with awesome gifts the next morning. Santa is recognized by red clothes and a white beard.

But it is not just the celebrations but the delicious food too which is made during the Christmas season without which every festivity is incomplete. Everywhere there is available so delicious food which can satisfy almost anyone. It is the food, the chocolates and the cakes which are available in so much variety which makes this festival so special.
