Vintage Tea Cup
Vintage teacup
My grandmother turned eighty-six last summer. We are a group of four siblings and each of us wanted to gift her something exclusive on her eighty-sixth birthday! It was a moment of great joy for all of us. The preparations started way ahead in time so everything could be taken care of adequately. Food, décor, invitation, music, the birthday cake…everything was in place; except granny’s present!
Imagine the amount of disgust and tension we all had as till two days before the event we couldn’t figure out what would be her present. Initially, like I said we all had different ideas. Then we realized that we are running out of time and its best if we all pool in and work on one idea. BINGO! After about an hour we all agreed on a vintage teacup.
Once gifted to granny, we realized nothing could have been a better present for her. She was simply overjoyed and seemed to be brimming with a new wave of energy for her tea sessions from thereon!
Occupied Japan Tea Cups
These are also referred to as OJ items. It refers to the period roughly from 1946 to 1952; the period to follow after the World War II. There were certain trade regulations at this period instructed by the allied powers and hence the reason.
The importance of OJ teacups lies in its intricate designs, exceptional colour transitions and the dainty-feel-yet-powerful-image. The floral designs look stunning and the gold trimmings embellish the vintage property lining it with a shade of gravity and substance.
Occupied Japan Tea Set
These sets or pieces bring in a novel and intricate feature to your drawing rooms. Either put on display or kept as a collection or simply being used for having tea…whatever may the purpose be it fills every mind with an exclamation and face with a smile which when put together says ‘wow’!
Royal Albert Vintage Teacup Collection
In this entire work of art and collection the black floral designs come as the supreme pair. Next in line are the combinations of pink and white. I had been to an exhibition few years back which had the theme ‘vintage cups’ and then all the above were variations in the show.
The first day was spent knowing about the historic importance and meeting the collectors and artists. By the end of the second day I remember sighing and having a raised pair of eyebrows throughout. I was actually taken aback witnessing the creative excellence that the mankind is filled with.
Vintage cups or tea set or any collection for that matter is a hobby that lets you dive into the deepest crevices of history. It unfolds countless facts and figures that we can’t help gaze at. Their possession enriches our knowledge and fills one with great pride to be able to share them with the generations ahead!
