We all love to be pampered and treated. Scrumptious and creamy desserts are a great way to share your happiness with your loved ones. Whether it is your child’s birthday or the holiday season; no celebration is complete without sweet treats.

Here are a few healthy desert recipes for kids that are high in terms of visual appeal and taste, rich in dietary and nutritional values and low in sweetness and artificial colourings and preservatives.

Fruity Treat on Cottage Cheese

Ingredients

2 cups fresh cottage cheese
4 to 6 tablespoons icing sugar
A few drops vanilla essence
1 cup fresh fruit

Knead the cottage cheese with the sugar to form smooth dough. Add the vanilla essence and knead again. Divide the dough into 2 parts and slightly sauté 1 part in a non-stick pan for about 4 to 5 minutes. Mix this with the remaining dough and knead again.

Roll out this mixture to 12.5 mm. (1/2 “) thickness.  Using a cookie cutter, cut out rounds and place on serving plates (when preparing for kids, you may use cookie cutters of different animal shapes available in the market). Top it with sliced fruits of your choice. (Preferably mangoes or kiwis or strawberries)

These should be made on the same day, try not to make them a few days in advance as the kids would savour the most if they fresh and soft.

Deliciously Chocolate- Chocolate brownies

Boil 2 cups sugar, ½ cup milk and ½ cup butter for 2 minutes. Add vanilla, coconut, cocoa, salt and oatmeal. Drop on to a waxed paper lined square baking dish. Place in the refrigerator to cool. Cut into squares to serve and garnish them with some chocolate gems.

Yummy Strawberry jelly ice cream

This can be prepared at home by adding some fresh strawberries, strawberry jelly, a scoop of strawberry ice cream and topped with a cherry. The taste can be enhanced by making strawberry sauce at home and adding wafers to the prepared dish
